Mr. Sam M. McCord
A Waterloo native, Mr. McCord is a 1968 graduate of West High School and presently resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After completing a tour in the U.S. Army, Mr. McCord attended and graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology with an Associates of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) in Civil Engineering Technology. After graduation he worked as a Soil Engineering Technician for Terracon Consultants, Inc., in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While at this position, he traveled extensively performing construction inspection of various large engineering projects.
In 1983, Mr. McCord left Terracon to begin a career in Personnel Management. Beginning as an Account Executive for Management Recruiters, Inc., in Waterloo, Iowa, Mr. McCord soon developed effective skills searching for hard-to-find specialty personnel for client plastics companies. He further expanded his Personnel Management skills working for New York Life Insurance Company. Through this position, he studied administration and insurance planning.
Returning to the Recruiting field, Mr. McCord joined City and National Employment, Inc., as an Engineering Plastics Specialists Recruiter, again working for plastics companies seeking the highly-skilled, but hard-to-find, engineers and managers. He and a partner started their own business, Midwest Technology Transfer, Inc., in late 1991, initially to help rural communities with industrial recruitment and economic development, and later to specialize in the site-selection business.
In late 1992, McCord Consulting Group, Inc., was formed out of increased demands to provide marketing and business development consulting services. Coupling these two businesses together, Mr. McCord has developed an effective combination of Marketing and Personnel Management skills useful to any organization.
